An unusual 1980s limited edition 'Spherical Weight' lacquered brass novelty timepiece in perfect original condition, by Harding & Bazeley, Cheltenham and sold complete with the original instructions and certificate of authenticity.
No. 844 out of a limited edition of 1,000 pieces.
The clock has 24 polished metal spheres to apply the driving force through gravity. It can however be spring driven - wound by the spokes of the main wheel - and will run for approx 9 days.
Swiss 11 jewel lever escapement.
The posted frame is surmounted by a curved track to hold the heavy polished spheres that propel a six spoked wheel below to power the movement.
Roman chapter ring and plain centre carrying the name plaque, on a moulded wooden and baize lined base.
