Victorian Regulator Timepiece Wall Clock


A high quality wall regulator dating from the late 19th century, by Kemp Bros. of Union Street, Bristol; a company still in family ownership today (now as jewellers).

The mahogany case has a broken swan neck pediment and acanthus decoration to the corners and bevelled glasses to the front and sides.

The substantial 8-day movement has arched plates with deadbeat escapement, and Harrison’s maintaining power. It has a wood rod pendulum, with polished and lacquered cylindrical brass bob and weight.

Well-engraved, 8-inch, silvered dial with Roman numerals and signed by the makers.

Blued steel hands.
