A lovely four glass mercury wheel barometer in a rich satinwood case.
The satinwood front is framed with ebonised stringing, and surmounted with an architectural pediment and central brass urn.
The 8″ silvered barometer dial is finely engraved with a 3-inch scale and weather predictions. The concave brass bezel has a convex glass fitted with a brass set hand operated by the brass knob below the dial. The set hand matches that on the dial.
Removable arched thermometer box, fitted with a mercury barometer with silvered register plate.
Hygrometer to the top, and name plate below, signed M. Wisker, Optician York.
Made by Garner & Marney, probably in the early years of the twentieth century; this is a super quality reproduction of a barometer design dating from the 1830-40s.
