Repeating Oval Carriage Clock by Asprey, London

£SOLD
image_pdfimage_print

A less common, but very elegant shape of case, this late nineteenth century oval carriage clock has some higher quality styling – the stepped base is echoed on the top panel, where the large oval glass for viewing the platform has a ridged edge in the brasswork. The shaped handle folds both ways. The case has been regilded to a soft satin finish, and is presented as new.

The white enamel dial has Roman numerals, and is signed ASPREY, LONDON, and FRENCH MADE.

Blued steel spade hands.

The eight day movement strikes the hours and the passing of the half hours on a coiled gong. It repeats the last hour on depressing the button on the top of the case. The movement retains its original silvered lever platform escapement.

Overhauled and guaranteed for 3 years.

Height: 6 inches (with the handle up)
