Antique Oval Engraved carriage clock

£SOLD
image_pdfimage_print

Newly arrived is this exquisite 1870s oval engraved carriage clock in exceptionally good condition, retaining its original mercury gilding and original platform escapement.

The floral engraving is of a very high standard, deep and with plentiful ‘shading.’

The eight day movement strikes and repeats on a delicate bell, striking on the hour and the passing of the half hour. It is signed for Pg, or Pq(?), with the serial number 828 repeated on the movement and case parts.

The white enamel dial has a barely visible hairline crack running from XI to IIII.

Original matching blued steel moon hands.

All curved beveled glasses are as new, with no chips or blemishes.

  • Height: 6.75 inches (17cms) with the handle up.
