Masked Arabic Dial Striking Carriage Clock

£SOLD
image_pdfimage_print

A lovely French carriage clock dating from c.1900, with a striking and repeating 8-day mechanism.

The Anglaise-style case has been regilded, giving it a lovely satin lustre. All five beveled glasses are in perfect condition.

The dial has a silvered chapter ring with black painted Arabic numerals with a filigree brass centre section, set into a plain gilt brass mask.

The 8-day movement retains its original silvered platform escapement. The clock strikes the hours and the passing of the half hour on a gong, and repeats the last hour on pressing the button on the top of the case.

Very attractive pair of blued steel lyre-shaped hands.

Height 7″ (to top of the carrying handle)
Width: 3½”
Depth: 3¼”
