An early 19th century longcase clock in an elegant, simple, dome-topped case with lovely mahogany veneers.
The one piece 12 inch break arch dial is silvered, with subsidiary seconds and date dials, and most unusually has vertical Roman numerals. The Arabic quarter hours are on the outside of a minute track. The dial is signed for the maker George Deriemer, Portsmouth in fine script engraving in the arch.
The eight day movement has four knopped pillars and is rack striking on a bell.
George Deriemer was known to be working in Portsmouth in 1808.
