Antique Mahogany Barograph with Drawer

An early 20th century barograph by Short & Mason, in a bevelled five-glass polished mahogany case over a moulded base with chart drawer.

The brass movement is signed for the retailer Husbands & Sons, Bristol, and No. D21430, having an eight-tier vacuum, brass drum with lever platform escapement stamped PAT. 3175.02.

It is sold complete with the original ink bottle and a set of barograph papers.

Tycos is a trade name of Short and Mason. The firm was established by Thomas Short and James Mason in London in 1845. The business was located at 40 Hatton Garden, London, and produced precision measuring instruments including barometers, anemometers, and compasses. They became leaders in the field of barograph design.
