A French gilded metal mantle clock with a rotating globe.
The gilt case is adorned with assorted icons of art, music and exploration. These include a pile of books, a lyre, a laurel wreath, a portrait medallion, violin and telescope.
The clock is mounted to the top with a small paper globe marked Wyld’s World in Miniature, London 1869, in exceptionally good condition. This rotates slowly as the clock runs. It is powered by the clock’s mainspring, linked with a pinion running behind the backplate.
The white enamel Roman chapter ring is in pristine condition. The skeletonised dial leaves the centre open to view the movement.
The movement bears a maker’s mark of an eagle over a bronze medallion, and with numbers 610 45.
