1940s large Factory wall clock

Slave-clock-Brillie

A good vintage industrial French clock by BrilliƩ, dating from the 1940s.

The black painted metal case has a glazed bezel, which is hinged at 12 o’clock. Within the case is the clock movement.
The bezel is secured closed with knurled screws at 4 and 8 o’clock.

This was originally a slave clock, driven by an electrical impulse from a master clock. As a standalone clock, it has been retro-fitted with a battery-driven electrical impulser (note: NOT a quartz movement which would not be powerful enough to drive the large hands). This impulses the hands every 30 seconds.
