Antique Wall Clocks

The hooded wall clock and grandfather clock both developed from the lantern clock, first made during the late 17th century, but did not really develop until the late 18th century with the introduction of the dial wall clock with silvered painted wood and iron dials. They were made as timepieces , some with striking trains, and having fuse spring-driven 8-day movements. This style is still very popular today, often referred to as a school clock, or a station clock, as they were regularly used in public places.
