Small mahogany wheel barometer.
The 6" silvered dial is signed Abraham, Optician Cheltenham within an ebony banded case surmounted by a swan neck pediment.
The removable dome topped thermometer box has a mercury thermometer, graded in degrees Fahrenheit.
Ivory vernier knob.
Overall height 36" (92cm)

The trade card of J. Abraham, Cheltenham is reproduced in Banfield's Barometer Makers and Retailers 1660-1900. He is listed here as an "important maker whose trade card shows that he made stick and wheel barometers. Instrument-maker to the Duke of Gloucester and the Duke of Wellington."
