A fine quality walnut barograph by Short and Mason, dating from 1911,
in excellent condition.
The brass barometer has an 8-capsule nickel silver movement and 8-day clock chart-drum with platform escapement.
The case has a hood with fluted corner columns and bevelled glass.
Twin compartment chart drawer to base with brass handle.
The inscription on the silver plaque affixed to the front states FROM The Captain, Officers and Passengers HMS Gibraltar to Lieut. HG Giffard RN, 4.XI.II
It is known that HG Giffard was Naval Officer in Charge, Captain of HMS Cochrane at Methil during 1944-45.
